Fire in Tawang monastery premises; one dead

Itanagar, Feb 11: A 10-
The fire apparently was caused by short circuit at the quarters near the Eastern gate of the Monastery.
The fire which broke out at around 4.30 pm completely gutted the Lama Phurpa Tashi’s quarter, Tawang SP SN Mosobi told The Arunachal Times over telephone.
Police, SSB, district administration, local citizens and Lamas of the monastery swung into action and rescued four young Lamas including one head Lama from the inferno.
However, the deceased Khow, a novice who hailed from Kharteng village under Lumla circle could not be saved as the fire was massive which was later doused by the rescuers.
However, no damage was caused to the famous Tawang Monastery, the SP said adding that investigation was on to ascertain the cause of the fire.
The rescuers also partially dismantled a nearby quarter to avoid further spread of the inferno.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki expressed shock over the incident and directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance and immediate relief to the fire victims.

Tourism Minister Pema Khandu who represents the district and was present during the incident made spot visit and met the victims and granted immediate relief of Rs.1.5 lakh from his side. He also asked the district administration to assess the losses and grant relief.
Former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin today mourned the demise of 10 year old novice, who was killed in the fire accident.
While expressing his deepest condolences to his parents as well as to the fraternity of the illustrious monastery, Gamlin said that the untimely demise of the young monk was truly heart wrenching. "Yet I pray for the community to find the strength to live through this difficult time. The Tawang monastery is one of the prides of our state and the thought of pain coming to this heritage is indeed saddening. We must collectively do our best to assuage the pain and the damage that this unfortunate event has brought on". Gamlin further said that accidents do happen, but what is important is that we learn from them and take on whatever measures are required to ensure they never happen again. He appealed to the district administration to assess in detail the fire hazard of the heritage site and take up necessary initiatives for prevention of such mishaps.
Miscreants on rampage in Seppa

SEPPA, Feb 11: In a shocking incident, East Kameng Chamber of Commerce& Industry (EKCCI) office was reportedly ransacked by unidentified miscreants here on Friday late evening, damaging office articles, furniture including all important documents.
EKCCI president Raju Gyadi said that incident happened around 10.30 PM, when a group of unidentified youths came in Tata Mobile and attacked the office.
Gyadi also informed that many articles such as utensils and other essentials commodities costing two lakhs were also looted. He said that the reason for targeting the EKCCI office is shrouded in mystery and yet to be ascertained.
Gyadi further claimed that when the incident was reported to police station Seppa, the phone was out of order and there was no instant reaction from police.
EKCCI president also blamed the district electrical power department for their inability to supply uninterrupted power which according to him gave undue advantages to miscreants to flee the scene after damaging the office.
Protesting against the incident, EKCCI members staged peace rally in Seppa town today and served 5 days ultimatum to police department and district administration to nab whoever is responsible for the ransacking.
EKCCI said failing to meet its demand, the authority would have to face rigorous agitation.
Meanwhile All East Kameng Students Union (AEKSU) condemned the incident and demanded the authority to nab the culprits immediately. AEKSU also stated that stern action should be taken against defaulters.
However when this daily contacted police station Seppa, it failed to provide any details and suggested that we get in touch with the SP instead. However, despite tries, the SP could not be contacted.

He, however, urged the people to develop their attitude towards tourists coming from outside the state and cooperate with the government in promoting the area as a major tourist hub.
Referring to the PPP policy adopted by his government recently, the Chief Minister assured accelerated development in the sectors like tourism, education and sports infrastructure and cultural activities.

TPCP submits memo to Governor, CM
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: A team of the Tirap People's Committee for Peace (TPCP) led by its chairman Gulley Sumnyan along with the 5 other members submitted a memorandum to Arunachal Pradesh Governor on February 6 .
The TPCP team also met Chief Secretary on February 8 and discussed about the problems faced the people of Tirap district. This was followed by meeting with Gadam Ete, Parliamentary Secy, Home Affairs and Bamang Tago, Pol. Secy to CM on February 9. The team appraised them about the various problems faced by the common public of Tirap district. On the same day evening, the team had a meeting with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and submitted the memorandum as well as discussed about the problems being faced by the Tirap people. Symposium reiterates separation of Judiciary from Executive

Addressing the inaugural session of the symposium, Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Minister Setong Sena disclosed that soon a bill for separation of judiciary from executives will be placed in the cabinet. He also spoke in details about importance of the codification of customary laws.
A host of dignitaries including Parliamentary Secretary, Legislative, Judicial, Science and Technology, JK Panggeng, District and Session Court judge Nani Grayu, Supreme Court advocate Bharat Kumar and DNGC Principal Tomar Ete took part in it.
Earlier, ALSU president Tadar Tarish stated that separation of judiciary from executive is very necessary for the betterment of legal justice system in Arunachal.
This was followed by first technical session which was chaired by Dr R B Tripathy, HOD, Political Science, DNGC.
While EAC Habung Lapung spoke about ‘interpretation of CrPC in the light of customary law’, DIGP Robin Hibu delivered lecture on ‘Viability and role of police administration in justice delivery in Arunachal Pradesh in the light of separation of judiciary from executives’. Large number of other resource persons took part also delivered lectures. Students also interacted with the resource persons by putting questions to the speakers.
The second technical session was chaired by Supreme Court Advocate Bharat Kumar. Most of the speakers of technical session including Y W Ringu, Dani Belo, Mukh Pertin, Subu Taping and Tadar Tarish emphasized on the need for urgent separation of judiciary from executives in Arunachal.

ITANAGAR, Feb 11: Training course for ‘Sakhi and Saheli’ and vocational training
on candle making under RGSEAs-
Sakhis and Sahelis from various sectors within the ICDS Project are attending the programme.
Resource persons from various line departments will be imparting training on their respective sectors while vocational training on candle making would be imparted by Bharat Scout & Guides, Arunachal Pradesh.
Inaugurating the programme, Nyapi Ringu, deputy director (I), Social Welfare, Women and Child Development department, who is also the state nodal officer of the scheme, advised the Sakhis and Sahelis/AGs to be very attentive during the training programme and reap the benefits so that they could learn important and basic knowledge in various fields for their future.

DDSE inspects schools in interior areas
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: The deputy director of school education (DDSE) cum DPO Papum Pare along with BRCC, Sagalee and CRCC Leporiang inspected all the Government schools of Leporiang circle on February 7 and 8 last to have first hand information about functioning of academic activities of the schools as well as encourage the teachers who are serving in interior places in the district.
During the course of interaction, the SSA teachers apprised the visiting team about various problems and grievances faced by them which included non payment of salary since November last year. They urged the visiting officers and officials to take up their grievances with the higher authorities for early redressal. The DDSE explaining the reasons for non release of their salary, asked the teachers to discharge their duties sincerely. Action would be taken as per CCS Rule against those teachers, who were found absent from their duties during the inspection, the DDSE said.
ASM’s death condoled
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: The Pacnhayat leaders of Parsi Parlo Anchal Block have condoled the death of Dare Nai, ASM, Pagam panchayat segment. Dare breathed his last on February 9 after a prolonged illness.
He left behind his wife, a son and a daughter.

NSS cell of NERIST organises blood donation camp
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: Forty-
Around 50 volunteers turned up for the camp. Of the forty six units of blood, four units were collected from girl donors.
Technical manpower and material resources were provided by the General Hospital, Naharlagun.
NSS cell of NERIST has been regularly organising Blood Donation Camps and the institute got an award for organising highest number of blood donation camp in 2011 from APSACS.
